After School Care Policy

                                                                 After School Care Policy
PLEASE NOTE THAT WE CANNOT PROVIDE AFTER-SCHOOL CARE AT THE MOMENT AS WE HAVE NO AVAILABLE SPACE.

THERE ARE A NUMBER OF AFTER-SCHOOL CARE PROVIDERS WHO COLLECT CHILDREN FROM OUR SCHOOL; YOU CAN GET A LIST OF SUCH PROVIDERS FROM THE OFFICE.

The After School Care is for children in Junior and Senior Infants classes. The children will be collected from their classes at 1.30pm. They are taken to the After-School Care room (s) by the carers, where they take part in organised activities and free play. The children are collected by 2.30pm. Children who have siblings will be returned to the main school building to be collected with their siblings.
The carers who are responsible for After School Care are all Garda Vetted and work under the direction of the Deputy Principal.

As places are limited priority will be given as follows:
1.    Children in Junior and Senior Infants classes who have siblings in St.Brigid’s or St.Mary’s primary schools.
2.    Children in Senior Infants who attended After School Care when in Junior Infants.
3.    Children who travel a long distance or whose family is experiencing difficulties.
4.    A child may be offered a place for a short period if there is a family illness or difficulty.

Conditions:
1.    Applications for After School Care are taken at the Parent Information Meeting in June each year; an Application Form must be completed.
2.    After-School Care costs €12.50 per week. This can be paid weekly, fortnightly or monthly, at the school office.
3.    Children are expected to participate in all organised activities.
4.    As this is a time for relaxation and fun, disruptive behaviour will not be accepted. If a child is disruptive or continues to upset other children, parents will be notified. After two warnings, parents may be asked to remove the child from After School Care; two weeks are given to allow time to make alternative arrangements.
5.    Parents are notified of the start date of After School Care in September. Generally Senior Infants start as soon as possible, while Junior Infants start in Week 3, or later if more appropriate to the individual child.

Please note:
A number of local Child Care providers collect children from St.Brigid’s and offer a longer period of After School Care. If you require information on these services, please contact the School Office on 6681155, or email us on saintbrigids@eircom.net.
